Mocking the mocks … Just when one thought one could take a couple of days off from doing mock drafts, along comes Cleveland and Philadelphia with a big trade that makes everybody’s latest mock obsolete. And truth be told we really don’t like doing mocks at this time of year. Needless to say they are almost mandatory for a mid-major draft site, but the fact of the matter is that everybody is just guessing all the while pretending they no something. This year we do have a pretty good idea – sort of – who the first two players to come off the board are going to be. After that who knows. A pretty good case can be made, for example, that San Diego will take Ole Miss OT Laremy Tunsil with the 3rd pick> however, one can make almost as good a case that the Chargers will select Florida State DB Jalen Ramsey or Oregon DE DeForest Buckner. That is if they don’t move the pick or go off the reservation and throw a curve ball at the draft board. In turn, who San Diego selects will have a major impact on what the Cowboys do with the 4th pick. If the Chargers go with Tunsil or Buckner and Ramsey would be a virtual no-brainer for the Cowboys. However, if the Chargers go with Ramsey all bets are off for Jerry Jones and company which could go in any number of plausible directions. That means after just two picks (not counting the two QBs at 1-2) there are more than a half a dozen possible perms and combs. That said, we did want to get a sense of what the Eagles-Browns deal might do to the rest of the opening round and did with some hesitation update the GBN trades projection, if for no other reason than one gets the feeling there are going to be more deals before we are done on the 28th and beyond.
