Texans, Browns make front-office moves … The Texans have given coach Bill O’Brien the general manager’s title earlier this week. O’Brien, in fact, has been the Texans de facto general manager since former G.M. Brian Gaine was fired in June. At the same time, the Texans also promoted promoted executive vice president of team development Jack Easterby to executive vice president of football operations, a job he had also been doing the past year or so but without the title. Meanwhile, the almost annual round of housecleaning continued in Cleveland where the Browns have ‘parted ways’ with Vice President of Player Personnel Alonzo Highsmith and Director of College scouting Steve Malin. There are also reports that the Browns have also parted company with assistant general manager Eliot Wolf, although there are other reports that the two sides are still working through it. The moves come just days after Andrew Berry took over as the team’s new GM and Executive Vice President of Football Operations, replacing John Dorsey who parted ways with the team late last year after declining to accept a demotion.
