QBs, OTs, WRs headline early look at top prospects for 2021 … When people think ahead to the 2021 draft, they rather naturally start thinking about star QBs Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Ohio State’s Justin Fields, neither of whom was eligible to enter this year’s draft. Lawrence, of course, has been the presumptive favorite to be the first player selected in next year’s draft literally from the moment he stepped on campus at Clemson. Meanwhile, Fields also emerged as a potential top prospect this past season when he lead the Buckeyes to the national semi-finals. Indeed, when our scouting staff put together a preliminary top 30 for 2021, Lawrence and Fields were ranked 1st and 3rd. However, while the QBs are getting most of the headlines, the position may not necessarily be the prime position next year. In fact, the offensive line, with 5 OTs, 2 OGs, and a C in the preliminary top 30, looks like it could be one of the strongest areas, as could the WRs, 5 of whom made the early list. Those players include rising Oregon OT Penei Sewell and Walker Little of Stanford, who rank 2nd and 8th respectively, while WRs Ja’Marr Chase of LSU and Purdue’s Rondale Moore are 5th and 9th. Here is the full preliminary top 30 for 2021.
