Not sure what Les Snead and Jeff Fisher were waiting for as they took pretty much the full 10-minutes to get their card to the table as the Rams go with the safer, more pro-ready guy in Cal’s Jared Goff over ND State’s Carson Wentz who may have the bigger upside. We don’t usually like to question NFL pro personnel people who know a lot more than we do. Time will tell, though, whether Goff, who lacks prototype measurables and arm strength, was worth the king’s ransom the Rams gave up to move from the 15th to the first pick. no question, though, that Goff is an accurate passer with a quick release who reads the field and gets the ball where it is supposed to be. Meanwhile, no one really knows which of the two QBs Philadelphia was expecting to be on the board when they moved up to the 2nd pick, but may have ended up with the better long-term prospect. There will also be less pressure on Wentz who likely will sit behind Sam Bradford – assuming the latter isn’t moved sometime later this weekend – for a year learning the ropes before taking over full-time in 2016.
