Panthers QB dilemma … Interesting QB dynamic developing in Carolina after the Panthers benched Sam Darnold late in the 3rd quarter of Sunday’s dismal loss to the Giants in New York. After the game, the Panthers indicated that Darnold is still the starter, but there were several reports over the weekend that Carolina was possibly a late entry in the sweepstakes to trade for disgruntled Houston QB DeShaun Watson. There’s not much of a secret around the NFL that Miami has been fully involved in talk with the Texans regarding Watson for several weeks now and with the NFL trade deadline coming up a week Tuesday if anything is going to get done it will have to get done rather quickly. However, its not clear that even if the Panthers were able to strike a deal with the Texans for Watson that he’d actually go there. Watson has a no-trade clause in contract that he would have to waive to be traded anywhere, and while it is believed he’d be more than happy to go to Miami, he really isn’t all that interested in playing in Carolina. That would almost certainly leave Carolina looking for an upgrade at the position at the 2022 draft, although its not clear at this time that any of the QBs that would be available when the Panthers pick next April would actually be better prospects than either of Justin Fields or Mac Jones whom they passed on this past April.,
