National champs pro day on tap

March 14, 2019

National champs next up on pro day sched … With the Oklahoma pro day featuring QB Kyler Murray now in the books, next up on the on-campus workout schedule are the national champion Clemson Tigers who work out later today. And while the Clemson workout won’t have quite the impact of the Sooners’ day, there are some Tigers the NFL really wants to see including star DE Clelin Ferrell. For the longest time, Ferrell was considered to be a top 5 prospect for the upcoming draft, but his stock has slipped somewhat of late because of concerns about his long speed. Those questions weren’t answered at the combine where Ferrell chose not to run, so today is the first time NFL teams will get to see him run the 40 and test that speed. It will also be the first time fellow DE Austin Bryant, a second round prospect, runs for NFL people as he also chose not to do the 40 at the combine. NFL teams are also hoping that MLB Tre Lamar will be able to do a full workout today. He was unable to go at the combine because of an injury and his status remains up in the air for today. Meanwhile, there will also be pro days at Tennessee and Central Michigan today along with a half dozen other smaller programs.
