Key NFL dates, deadlines looming … As noted in the piece on Philadelphia QB Nick Foles earlier today, the Eagles are now expected to place a franchise tag on him now that he has voided his contract option. The Eagles, though, can’t actually apply the franchise tag to Foles for another couple of weeks or as teams can only begin applying franchise or transition tags on February 19th. That’s just one of the key dates on the NFL’s off-season schedule heading toward the start of the new football year on March 13th when all teams have to be under the salary cap and when free agency and the league’s trading period begin.
