Jags to #1

October 18, 2015

Jags new #1 after Lions win … Detroit had to work overtime, but the Lions finally got off the schneid posting their first win of the season 34-31 over Chicago in overtime earlier today. With the Lions win and a Jacksonville loss to Houston, the Jaguars will be the new holders of the #1 pick at the 2016 draft, at least for this week. After the Jags, though, things remain way too tight to ascertain any trends. Detroit, for example, would have the second pick and Baltimore #3 if Philadelphia defeats the Giants in the Monday nighter tomorrow. On the other hand, a Giants’ win and it will be Baltimore at #2 with Detroit at #3. However, Tennessee which lost to Miami to drop to 1-4, has a significantly weaker SOS than either the Lions or Ravens and would actually move into the #2  spot if the Titans lose their game in hand. With a loss in that extra game, Tennessee would also be in contention for the top spot but after today’s late game the Titans’ SOS edged ahead that of Jacksonville. For now, though, Kansas City would have the 4th pick with Tennessee at #5. As noted, the full, current selection order for the upcoming draft will be posted after tomorrow’s Monday night game.
