Wishes for a happy and safe holiday weekend … From everyone here at the GBN, best wishes for a very happy and safe Canada Day to all our Canuckster friends today and an equally happy and safe Independence Day weekend to everyone south of the border. Of course, there’s lots to celebrate, not the least of which is that it is finally July which means the opening of NFL training camps is just around the corner. And no, its not Canada Day up north because the NHL’s free agency agent signing frenzy gets underway later this morning. On a somewhat more somber note, this July 1st marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the Battle of the Somme in WWI. The Somme has a special meaning in my family as my late grandfather was wounded and ultimately lost a leg at the Somme. Lots to ponder. Again be safe everyone. ed
