Giants Draft Mock with Options

Giants Draft Mock with Options …. My GBN colleague Pigskin Paul Guillemette asked me to cover the NY Giants in his series of pre-draft individual team mocks. And just to make it a little more realistic, or maybe just a little more useful, I actually prepared four possible trajectories for the Giants at the upcoming draft depending on how some of the earlier picks evolve. Here are the four options we tried to cover off:

Option A: According to just about everything the Giants have said and done through the pre-draft process, this appears to be the preferred option and that’s to come away with one of the top 3-4 receivers. And that pretty much means a trade up at least into the high teens.

Option B: From this perspective, it just seems hard to imagine that the Giants aren’t able to come away from the draft with at least one of the first or second tier group of WRs. The only scenario where we could see this happening would be if there were an early run on WRs in the top 15 and then another run on the second-tier receivers just before the Giants make their pick. But if something like that were to happen the Giants have indicated that they will consider trading down as they did last year in the second round before ultimately acquiring Wan’Dale Robinson.

Option C: Not sure how likely this scenario is but at least one of the top 5-6 WRs is still on the board when the Giants get on the clock with the 25th pick.

Option D: Maybe the most interesting scenario, but the Giants acquire one of the top veteran WRs in the league like Arizona’s Deangelo Hopkins in a trade. So here we go …
