Trojans run times a little on the slow side … Its been kind of disappointing day so far for OG Alijah Vera-Tucker at the USC pro day. He was actually a little taller than expected at 6-4.5, 308, but his arms at just a tad over 32-inches are very very short for an OL at any position. And neither of Vera-Tucker’s vertical nor long jumps were anything special. Same story for his 40-time which has unofficially been reported at 5.15 seconds, although he did impress with 36 reps in the BP. Bottom line is that it is hard to see any team thinking of Vera-Tucker as anything but an interior offensive lineman at this time based o those numbers. On the other hand, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown had a pretty good day. The guy is absolutely sculpted at 5-11.5 and 197 pounds and had really nice 38.5″ vertical, although his 40-time at an unofficial hand-timed 4.51 was a little slower than he was probably hoping for (and it should be noted several teams actually had him closer to 4.6.) In the passing drills, though, St. Brown looked very smooth coming out of his breaks and caught everything coming his way. DT Jay Tufele did run pretty well for a 6-2, 305-pound guy with a sub-5.0 clocking; he also managed a strong 30 reps in the BP, but his 8-9 long jump was a little below par for a DT. Meanwhile WR Tyler Vaughns at 4.62 and SS Talanoa Hufanga at 4.65 were the stuff of 3rd day picks in the 40.
