CB Horn aces ‘other’ SC pro day … Early reports indicate that South Carolina CB Jaycee Horn, generally considered to be the #3 CB in the 2021 draft class behind Patrick Surtain and Caleb Farley, had a very good workout at the Gamecocks’ pro day earlier today. Horn measured in with the kind of length NFL teams look for in an elite cover corner – he came in at 6-0.5, 205, with 33-inch arms – and then reportedly ran the 40 in under 4.4 with a projected official time of 4.39, while also posting an explosive 41.5-inch vertical and 11-1 long jump. and just for good measure, posted a respectable 19 reps in the BP.
At the same time, each of the former USC players invited to the combine had their moments. LB Earnest Jones, for example, measured in at 6-1.5, 230 and ran the 40 in 4.69 seconds and posted an athletic 38.5-inch vertical. WR Shi Smith, wasn’t all that big at 5-9.5, 186 with 32-inch arms, but ran the 40 in 4.43 seconds and had a 36-inch vertical. OG Sadarius Hutcherson tipped the scales at 321 pounds on a 6-3.5 frame and impressed in both the BP where he posted 36 reps and then a ran a quick (for such a big guy) 4.95 40. CB Israel Mukuamu didn’t the run the 40 but the 6-4, 212-pounder with 34-inch arms simply impressed with his length, although a 36-inch vertical didn’t hurt.
