College football notes

College football notes … If things weren’t bad enough already for Michigan, which is an uncharacteristic 1-2 in the early going of the Big Ten schedule, the Wolverines have confirmed that junior DE Aidan Hutchinson, an early second round prospect for the upcoming draft, will miss the rest of the season with a leg fracture that will require surgery.  The 6-6, 270-pound Hutchinson, is currently rated as the #4 DE on the GBN positional listing, as well as the #37 player on the GBN Big Board. Same story for Baylor junior OLB Terrel Bernard, an early 3rd day candidate for the upcoming draft, who is out for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury incurred in Saturday’s loss to Iowa State. Bernard is currently 3rd in the Big XII with 55 tackles. There is better news for Florida junior TE Kyle Pitts, one of the most dynamic playmakers in college, after he had to leave Saturday’s game with Georgia after taking a hit to the head area. Pitts is still under concussion protocol and is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game against Arkansas, but should be back this season, coach Dan Mullen said Monday. Through the Gators’ first 5 games this year, the angular Pitts is averaging over 17 yards per catch and has 8 TD receptions.
