CFL’s Elks snatch defeat from the jaws of victory to set futility record … For about a quarter and half, the CFL’s Edmonton Elks appeared to be on the verge of ending their 21 game home losing streak when they raced to a 22-0 lead over the visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers last evening. To boot, the Bombers had lost star QB Zach Collaros to an undisclosed upper-body injury. Alas, however, it was not to be as Winnipeg rallied behind back-up QB Dru Brown and ultimately won going away 38-29, in the process giving the Elks a record 22nd straight home loss, now the longest home losing streak ever by a North American professional sports team. Brown, who started three games for Oklahoma State over the 2018-2019 seasons after starting for two years at Hawaii, threw for 307 yards and 4 scores to key the victory for the 7-2 Bombers who take over first place in the CFL’s Western Conference with the win.
