Cards fire head coach Kingsbury; G.M. Keim steps away

Cards fire head coach Kingsbury; G.M. Keim steps away … Less than a year after he agreed to a 5-year contract extension, Kliff Kingsbury has been fired by Arizona in the wake of a very disappointing 4-13 season. At the same time, Cards’ G.M. Steve Keim, who has been on medical leave the past month, has announced that he is stepping away from the team. All that sets up a potentially very interesting dynamic involving QB Kyler Murray in Arizona. Murray was drafted specifically by Kingsbury to run his offense and now that he’s gone, the new administration may be inclined to look for their own guy, especially given that Murray likely won’t be ready for the start of the 2023 season after suffering a torn ACL this fall. And with the 3rd pick in the upcoming draft, the Cardinals would appear to be in good position to address the position if that is the direction they want to go. Stay tuned!
