Bonus Bulls coverage … When former Buffalo LB Khalil Mack was selected 5th overall by Oakland at the 2014 it looked like something of a one-off. Programs outside the Power 5 superpowers just don’t have players taken that early that often. One-off or not, the Bulls are back this year with one of the best draft classes in the country whatever the level. Unfortunately, because of their schedule, the Bulls just don’t get on national TV all that often. However, folks will get a chance to see the 7-1 Bulls this evening when they play Miami of Ohio at 8 PM ET on ESPN2. The Bulls are led by rangy junior QB Tyree Jackson (#3, 6-7, 245), who has NFL teams really intrigued. There are concerns about his accuracy – he’s only completed 57% of his throws this fall – but you just can’t teach arm talent and Jackson has one of the strongest arms in this year’s draft class. Meanwhile, MLB Khalil Hodge (#4, 6-0, 235) is a tackling machine who already has 99 tackles this fall, 55 more than anyone else on the Buffalo defense. Like Jackson, Hodge has later second-day potential. The Bulls best prospect though is veteran WR Anthony Johnson (#83, 6-1, 210) who was 6th in the country with 1,350 receiving yards last fall on 76 total receptions. Johnson’s numbers are down somewhat this fall as he has been limited by a hamstring injury through much of the campaign, but he is still averaging over 18 yards a catch and should get some early second-round consideration, if not late first interest, when the 2019 draft rolls around in April.
