Possible AFC East arms race shaping up … Normally NFL G.M.s don’t say much of anything at their pre-draft pressers, but New York Jets G.M. Mike Maccagnan somewhat surprisingly admitted at his that he called Tennessee about moving all the way from the 20th pick to the first overall before the titans traded the pick to Los Angeles. In the end, Maccagnan didn’t say which player the Jets would have been targeting, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that it was almost assuredly either of QBs Carson Wentz or Jared Goff. What one is left to wonder now that both are out of reach of the Jets might they now try and move up to acquire QB Paxton Lynch. And that could set up a rather interesting dynamic as the other team believed to be interested in moving up to get the former Memphis signal caller is Buffalo, the Jets AFC East rivals, which currently picks one slot ahead of the Jets at #19. One team that might be interested in trading down is believed Cleveland which of course has already traded once already, dropping from #2 to #8 in a deal with Philadelphia. And the Browns new management team has made it pretty clear that they want to accumulate as many picks as possible this year with the goal of building up the team’s base before investing a high pick in a QB. Stay tuned!
