Owner suspended; Dolphins lose two picks in tampering case … While most of the football world has been focused on the Deshaun Watson case, the NFL was also undertaking a second investigation involving allegations of tampering against Miami. And that case was resolved earlier today with word that Dolphins’ owner Stephen Ross has been suspended from all football activities for the first 6 weeks of the season, while Miami will also forfeit its first round pick in 2023 and its third rounder in 2024. Unlike the Watson case, there is no avenue for an appeal in this situation. The Dolphins were found to have tampered with both QB Tom Brady and head coach Sean Peyton when they were under contract with New England and New Orleans respectively. However, the Dolphins will still have a first-round pick this year as they acquired the 49ers’ #1 pick in 2023 in the deal in which San Francisco moved up to select QB Trey Lance.
