UCF, Cincy lose rising junior DBs to leg injuries … A couple of promising junior defensive backs suffered season-ending leg injuries this week. Central Florida CB Brandon Moore, for example, suffered what is being described as a ‘gruesome’ leg injury when he landed awkwardly after being tackled from behind while returning an intercepted pass in the Knights’ 62-0 rout of FCS team Florida A&M in their season-opener last evening. Moore remained on the field for over 20 minutes before the leg was immobilized and he was carted off the field. There have also been some questions addressed to UCF head coach Josh Heupel why Moore was still in the game with the Knights leading 55-0 deep in the 3rd quarter. Meanwhile, Cincinnati FS James Wiggins will also miss the season because of an undisclosed knee injury suffered in practice earlier this week.
