Intrigue continues at top of draft … It was just a couple of weeks ago that it looked like at least the first few picks of the 2018 draft would come off in cookie cutter fashion: USC QB Sam Darnold first overall to Cleveland; UCLA QB Josh Rosen to the Giants at #2; and Wyoming QB Josh Allen #3 to the Jets. However, with just under 8 hours to go until those first few picks start coming off the board all bets are off. In particular, there is some real drama as to which player the Browns will take with the first pick. In fact, one gets the sense this morning that all of a sudden Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield is the favorite to be Cleveland’s pick at #1. And that of course will impact what the Giants and Jets do at 2-3 if Darnold is still on the board. Indeed, the happiest team in the league could end up being the Jets who would be guaranteed a shot at least one of Darnold or Rosen if the Browns in fact take Mayfield first overall. And there could very well be more drama for the Browns at the 4th pick as they have reportedly had multiple calls from teams looking to trade up for a QB. And the calls could very well get louder if the QB available at #4 is Wyoming’s Josh Allen instead of Mayfield. Should be great fun. Indeed, stay with us as we’ll be tracking all the picks, as well as providing commentary on the evenings highlights on the good, the bad and the ugly through the evening; and as usual we’ll also be maintaining an updated GBN Big Board which will be providing an up-to-the minute listing of the top remaining prospects right through the draft
