Bottom line is there is a ton of talent yet to be drafted. Depth is the key this year!
Pretty heavy Pick trading again tonight. I strongly urge you to head on over to Colin’s Picks By Team pages.
I want to get my ballot in early, and I am not sucking up to the boss.
I luv the work GETTLEMAN hasv done thru 3 Rounds for the GIANTS! Great PICKS so far. PIGSKIN
RAIDERS are channeling their AL DAVIS with KEY Pick. And by the way REGGIE McKENZIE isthe GM not JON GRUDEN as TREY WINGO would have you believe. PIGSKIN
Loreno Carter heads to Giants and it warms the heart of Draftnik Joe Everett fellow cellist. Pigskin
Guess I got my answer on Guice. James Washington. Pick for Steelers replces BRYANT who was traded for #rd Round Pick last night. Still curious to see when and how they acquire some depth at he RB position. Pigskin
One of my favorite guys! the net Antonio Borwn for Trubisky! Way to go former walk-on. Pigskin
Back in the old days Mel KIPer would rip a team a new asshole for reaching 4 Rounds for a Pick. The Andy Reid era is on a roll in KC. Good luck folks! Pigskin
Looks like Packers have blinders on again and think they have only one issue to deal with. I wanna see how much QB pressure JACKSON can generate when they slide him in as a DT on 3rd Down this season. Let’s get another one next Round. Pigskin
Maybe we’ll call Brian Gutekunst a 1 Trick Pony from now on. Disappointing!
I am quite frankly sick and tired of the ESPN network swith=ching channels in the middle of things. Pick a damn channel and stick with it guys. Stop running things like a Mickey Mouse Network! Pigskin
OK short but sweet someone better tell me soon what the scoop is with GUICE, as the 6th RB not from LSU is selected. GUICE begins to seem like a guy with the plague! Pigskin
THis selection may precipitate some serious shuffling along Chicago’s OL given that DANIELS may win the OC job right away. Could Kyle Long end up out at OT, with WHITEHAIR SLIDING TO OG from OC? Pigskin
This team needs a No. 1 RB now that the DOUG MARTIN era is over in Tampa. If GUICE/LSU does not go here then i want ti know what the medical problem is and/or off-field issues are. Pigskin
And away we go again with the BROWNS leading off with the Picks again. Ideally they ind themselves an OT to replace recently retired Joe Thomas, but that looks like a futile crusade ala the Hole Grail! Pigskin
A touching welcome for the NFL’s beloved commissioner including an almost 60-second standing boo despite the fact that his posse included Dallas superstars Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach and Jason Witten. Browns on the clock at 8:07 PM ET.
Here we go! Browns almost on the clock!!
Gettleman a bit quicker on the trigger here. Now the Giants can get back to traditional Giants play with a strong running game. ELI just got a lot better. Now Dave has to find an elite LB athlete in upcoming rounds, not to mention OL help. Colin must be happy! Pigskin
J-E-T-S! DARNOLD IS THE MAN! Mark it down as correct in my book. IMO, McCown starts the season opener, but will be hurt in a month or two and DARNOLD will need to be ready to replace him.
BROWNS should now take QUENTON NELSON/OG, not CHUBB! Pigskin
And now things have really been shaken up. Does ELWAY want a QB or does he get CHUBB. to compliment VON MILLER? NICE TO HAVE CHOICES. PIGSKIN
So clearly ELWAY does have confidence in CASE KEENUM as his QB. And now their D has the replacement for a guy named WARE who retired just a couple seasons ago.
Who wants to trade up to get the COLTS Pick?! Pigskin
Are the BILLS coming up for ALLEN or waiting for JACKSON.
Yes the COLTS really need OL help. DA BEARS have to be sad right now.
If I am BUCS I take MINKAH FITZPATRICK to bolster my deep secondary. Pigskin
And the BILLS are indeed are coming up for JOSH ALLEN? or is it ROSEN? I say ALLEN, with Lake Erie weather similar to Wyoming! Pigskin
OK I can’t win. ESPN is interviewing Roger Goodell, King of PC Talk and NFLN as their mindless Red Carpet show on. I may be sick before the first Pick comes in.
Mayfield inching closer to #1??? … Just three hours to go until the pick is actually made, but in just days Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield has gone from an almost total outsider to be the first player selected at today’s draft to the prohibitive favorite to go #1. Indeed, if the buzz around the NFL is to be believed it will now be a major upset if Cleveland doesn’t take the former Sooners’ star. And if Mayfield does go #1 overall we could have just a little mayhem in the subsequent picks. Hang in there!!
Draft basics reminder … With the draft now just slightly over ten hours away, here’s a quick reminder of a few draft basics. The opening round gets underway later this evening with the first picks expected to start coming off the board just after 8 PM ET. Once on the clock, teams have ten minutes to make their pick. If a team goes over the time limit they can still make their pick anytime, but the next team can just ahead of them. The opening round should conclude shortly after 11 PM ET if history is any guide. The 2nd and 3rd rounds go on Friday evening starting at 7 PM ET. Teams have 7 minutes to make their second round picks and 5 in the third thru 6th rounds and 4 in the 7th round (as people have planes to catch!). Rounds 4-7 are scheduled to get underway at Noon ET on Saturday and should conclude around 6:30 PM ET that night. As usual, ESPN and the NFL Network will be providing gavel-to-gavel coverage of all the picks. For the first time this year, there is national coverage of the draft with FOX simulcasting NFL Network coverage on Thursday and Friday, while ABC will carry the ESPN feed on Saturday.
Intrigue continues at top of draft … It was just a couple of weeks ago that it looked like at least the first few picks of the 2018 draft would come off in cookie cutter fashion: USC QB Sam Darnold first overall to Cleveland; UCLA QB Josh Rosen to the Giants at #2; and Wyoming QB Josh Allen #3 to the Jets. However, with just under 8 hours to go until those first few picks start coming off the board all bets are off. In particular, there is some real drama as to which player the Browns will take with the first pick. In fact, one gets the sense this morning that all of a sudden Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield is the favorite to be Cleveland’s pick at #1. And that of course will impact what the Giants and Jets do at 2-3 if Darnold is still on the board. Indeed, the happiest team in the league could end up being the Jets who would be guaranteed a shot at least one of Darnold or Rosen if the Browns in fact take Mayfield first overall. And there could very well be more drama for the Browns at the 4th pick as they have reportedly had multiple calls from teams looking to trade up for a QB. And the calls could very well get louder if the QB available at #4 is Wyoming’s Josh Allen instead of Mayfield. Should be great fun. Indeed, stay with us as we’ll be tracking all the picks, as well as providing commentary on the evenings highlights on the good, the bad and the ugly through the evening; and as usual we’ll also be maintaining an updated GBN Big Board which will be providing an up-to-the minute listing of the top remaining prospects right through the draft
ITS DRAFT DAY!!! … Where is everybody???
