Browns buzz

Are Fournette, Trubisky still in play for #1? … There has been a bit of a stir around the NFL the past 24 hours or so after Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports suggested that Cleveland may be considering selecting LSU RB Leonard Fournette with the #1 pick overall at this month’s draft. Lord knows this draft needed a little stirring, but there aren’t many – well actually there aren’t any – other sources around the league that seriously believe that Fournette is actually in play for the top pick. Cleveland, of course, has been widely thought to be locked in on Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett for the #1 pick; however, there is some quiet speculation that the Browns have not totally ruled out taking North Carolina QB Mitch Trubisky with the top pick. It is believed that the Browns have entertained the notion of taking Garrett at #1 and then trying to work there way back up into the top 10 to get Trubisky, the top QB prospect this year who is a Cleveland native. However, it appears that Trubisky may have really separated himself from the rest of the QB pack such that if he isn’t selected by Cleveland, he likely isn’t going to last that much longer. Indeed, its very likely he’ll be selected second overall by San Francisco if the Browns. At the same time, though, if that is the case, the Browns, who just love to acquire extra picks, could be blowing a little smoke at the 49ers to try and entice them to flip the first and second picks, which would still let Cleveland take Garrett, while netting them an extra pick or two. Stay tuned!
