Bill, Jets work out top QB prospects … Both Buffalo and the New York Jets worked out a top QB prospect over the weekend. The Bills, for example, were in North Carolina yesterday to work out QB Mitch Trubisky. What made the Bills interest a little more intriguing is that team owner Terry Pegula was part of the Buffalo contingent checking out Trubisky along with head coach Sean McDermott. Buffalo has been all over the map regarding the future QB plans this off-season. They initially indicated they wanted to move on from incumbent starter Tyrod Taylor, but then extended him through 2018. Then today the Bills signed veteran journeyman T.J. Yates. However, the fact that the team owner is traveling to see QB prospects barely two weeks from the draft indicates the Bills could be very much in play to select a QB with their top pick this year. For the record, the Bills will also workout Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes next week. Mahomes, for his part, worked out for the Jets this past weekend. Time will tell, but there is a growing buzz around the league that, while there are still questions about both Trubisky and Mahomes, both are starting to lock like more legitimate top ten prospects. And once a QB is considered to be a top 10 guy, all bets are off when it comes to BPA picking for teams that really need a passer. Meanwhile, one also gets the sense that teams are more torn about Clemson QB Deshaun Watson. NFL personnel people love Watson’s intangibles, but aren’t sure that will work in the NFL with average arm strength.
