WKU RB done for year

WKU RB out for year … Western Kentucky officials have confirmed that star RB Leon Allen, one of the better second-tier backs in the country who was forced to leave last evening’s 41-38 win against Louisiana Tech with a gruesome leg injury, will indeed be season-ending. Because Allen has not yet redshirted and its just the second week of the schedule, he would be eligible to request a 5th year of eligibility next fall. The injury to Allen, who the GBN had rated as the 18th best back for the 2016 draft prior to the injury, overshadowed an impressive passing duel between a couple of pretty good QBs looking for a little recognition in WKU’s Brandon Doughty and Louisiana Tech’s Jeff Driskel who combined for just under 800 passing yards on the night. Doughty, who got a 6th year of eligibility from the NCAA after missing a couple of seasons earlier in his career, for example, completed 28 of 38 passes for 441 yards with one touchdown no turnovers, while Driskel, the former Florida Gator who was virtually run out of Gainesville, was 28-for-48 for 357 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, while he also ran the ball nine times for 55 yards with another touchdown.
