Who’s #1; outlook on top pick shifting

Who’s #1; outlook on top pick shifting … For those that haven’t heard already, there is a growing buzz around the NFL that it is no longer a lock that a QB will be the consensus top prospect overall for the 2020 draft when all is said and done. It has been pretty much accepted common wisdom for some time that Alabama junior QB Tua Tagovailoa was far and away the leading prospect for the upcoming draft, however, it appears that Ohio State junior DE Chase Young has more than one team around the league revising their thinking. Young put an exclamation point on his rise in this past weekend’s 38-7 rout of Wisconsin when he was almost unblockable enroute to a 4 sack game. That pushed Young’s nation-leading sack total to 13.5 on the year; in fact, Young is on pace to crack the 20 sack mark. Nobody doubted Young’s physical potential coming into the season, but the consensus in the scouting community was that he lacked the polish of, say for example, the Bosa brothers, former Buckeyes Joey, who went third overall in 2016, and Nick, the second pick overall this past April. However, Young has blown people away with his quickness and overall athleticism so far this fall. He’s a rangy 6-5, 265 specimen with an explosive first step and the ability to change direction on the fly; he’s also possesses a dynamic swim move, along with next level closing speed. Pro scouts would like to see him get a little stronger, specially through the lower body; they’d also like to see more enthusiasm defending the run, but that’s not what he’s going to get paid for at the next level.
