What we see is what we may get … With the college football season heading into the home stretch we took a quick peek at the remaining schedule to red circle the big games coming up in the final month of the campaign. However, we were kind of shocked to find out that there are, in fact, very few really big games left. Indeed, there is only one game through the entire month of November between teams currently ranked in the top 10 and that’s on rivalry weekend at the end of the month between #5 Georgia and #8 Georgia Tech. At the same time, there are barely half a doze games between any ranked teams the rest of the way. Of course, that will change when we get to the conference championship games and CFP playoffs in December. And while upsets will always occur, what all this suggests is that there is a better than usual chance that the ultimate CFP field will look very much like the current top 10-12 as at least half those teams do not have a ranked opponent left on their remaining schedule. Which isn’t to suggest that there still won’t be some interesting games out there – #1 Ohio State, for example, hosts Penn State this weekend and has play at #25 Michigan on Thanksgiving weekend, while #4 Alabama still has to play #18 Oklahoma as well as unranked LSU and Auburn. In fact, upstart Vanderbilt, which has climbed into into the top 10 for the first literally since the late 1930s, may have the toughest road to stay there as the Commodores still face road tests at #20 Texas and #14 Tennessee, but for the most part its pretty tame stuff coming up this month..
