Watson drama, with draft implications continues to unfold in Houston … There is a growing sense around the NFL that the relationship between Houston and star QB DeShaun Watson may be beyond repair. While Watson claims he has yet to request a trade, he is known to be very upset with the Texans over the process they used to hire new general manager Nick Caserio, among other issues. Of course, Watson is probably still smarting from the fact that the Texans, shockingly, traded away WR DeAngelo Hopkins, his go-to guy last year. Part of the problem appears to be that Texans front office is in chaos these days with some guy one step up from a used car salesman running the personnel department. The one thing that could save the relationship would be if the Texans were to hire Eric Bieniemy, currently Kansas City’s offensive co-ordinator, as their new head coach as he is thought to be a favorite of Watson. Certainly, Houston wouldn’t lack for suitors if indeed Watson forced a trade. He has a no-trade contract, but has reportedly let it be known that he’d be happy to waive it if sent to Miami. And that set off some buzz about a potential deal involving Dolphins’ QB Tua Tagovailoa and the 3rd pick overall in this year’s draft which, ironically, Miami acquired from Houston in the trade for OT Laremy Tunsil. However, the Dolphins likely wouldn’t be the only team interested in Watson if he came on the market after he lead the NFL in passing this past season with almost 5,000 yards. The NY Jets, who have the 2nd pick overall, would certainly be expected to be one of those teams as might Carolina. Stay tuned!
