Vols stun Tide on last-play FG

Vols win!!! Stun Tide on last-play FG … WOW! Tennessee finally got the Alabama jinx off its back when Chase McGrath hit a tipped 41-yard FG on the game’s final play to give the the 6th ranked Vols a dramatic 52-49 win over the third-ranked Tide to wrap an absolutely terrific college football game. And that final score doesn’t even begin to tell the story as Alabama actually missed a potential game-winning FG of its own with 21 seconds on the clock. That gave Tennessee just enough time to get into FG range as Vols’ QB Hendon Hooker completed a couple of back-to-back passes to get them into position. Certainly, Hooker looked all the part of a first-round QB prospect as he completed 21 of 30 passes for 385 yards and 5 TDs with all 5 being hauled in by Vols’ WR Jalin Hyatt who finished the night with 6 catches for over 200 yards. At the same time, Alabama’s Bryce Young, who was a game-time decision whether he’d even play, also looked all the part of a possible #1 pick overall as he completed 32 of 52 passes for 455 yards and a couple of TDs. In fact, both teams had over 550 yards of total offense including over 800 yards through the air.
