Lions trade TE Hockenson to Vikes for pick swap … With the NFL trade deadline just under three hours away, we have a trade. Indeed, in a somewhat surprising move, Detroit has traded TE TJ Hockenson, one of the Lions few good young players, to division-rival Minnesota. What makes the deal even more surprising is that the return the Lions get is pretty slim for a receiver who was on pace to have almost 65 receptions for close to 1,000 yards this fall. If the early reports are correct, the teams will flip picks in both 2023 and 2024 with the Lions getting the Vikings second round pick this year and a third next year, while the Vikings will get the Lions’ 4th round picks in both years, although the 2024 4th is being reported as conditional. What it all works out to be using the NFL trade value chart, the Lions will get the equivalent of roughly an early third round pick for Hockenson.
