Vikes flip back-up QBs; sign Wentz, send Howell to Eagles … In something of an odd move, at least this close to the start of the regular season, Minnesota has signed veteran QB Carson Wentz and traded Sam Howell to Philadelphia. In exchange for Howell, the Vikings get a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Eagles, while Philadelphia received a 2026 sixth-round pick from the Vikings. There is something of an irony to the whole deal in that Wentz, who has been a free-agent since being released by Kansas City in March, was originally a very early pick by Philadelphia.
