Tide, UW DTs run well on first DL 40 … Like many of the offensive linemen, nobody puts too much stock in the 40 times of the DTs. However, several guys did stand out this morning including a solid run by Washington’s Vita Vea who clocked in at 5.11 running at 347 pounds. At the same time, Alabama’s Da’ron Payne had a very quick 4.91 clocking. Florida’s Taven Bryan also had a good run sneaking under the 5-flat barrier with a 4.98 clocking. On the other hand. Stanford’s Harrison Phillips may have been a little disappointed with his 5.21 clocking, although straight line speed has never been his strong suit. Along with Payne, BJ Hill (4.99) of NC State and Bilal Nichols (4.96) of Delaware got under 5.00, while Justin Jones (5.11) of NC State, Nate Shepherd (5.10) of Fort Hays State and Georgia’s Trent Thompson (5.06) were in the 5.1 range. Here are the unofficial 40 times for the DTs.
