Updates to selection order … There are a couple of updates re the selection order for the first three rounds of the 2024 draft posted last week. At the time, it was not clear which of Denver’s two third rounders Seattle would get to complete a 2023 draft trade. Turns out is the pick that Denver acquired from New Orleans as part of the compensation package the Saints received from Denver for the signing of head coach Sean Peyton. As a result, Denver will retain their own pick, the 76th, while Seattle will have the 81st pick. Meanwhile, it appears that the pick that Atlanta got from Jacksonville for WR Calvin Ridley, which had become a 4th when he made the Jaguars’ opening day roster, is now a third after Ridley met several productivity goals. However, that pick, now #79, could still become a second rounder if Ridley resigns with the Jags this off-season. Lastly, San Francisco, in fact, will get only one minority hiring compensation pick this year as a result of Houston signing former 49ers’ defensive co-ordinator DeMeco Ryans as their head coach last year. The 49ers, though, will get another 3rd round comp pick as a result of the Ryans signing in 2025.
