49ers’ QB walks back opt out talk … Sources close to San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick are saying that he has in fact not decided whether he will opt of his contract this month. There were reports earlier this month that Kaepernick had decided to opt out of his contract and test free agency, but the sources indicate that he would at least like to talk with the 49ers new management team head by G.M> John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan. It is pretty much a given that if Kaepernick does leave San Francisco, the 49ers look for a QB early at the 2017 draft where SF has the second pick overall. However, even if Kaepernick returns it is hard to imagine that the 49ers won’t still be interested in finding a young developmental QB this off-season. Stay tuned.
