UNC RB to return … North Carolina junior RB Elijah Hood will not play in the Sun Bowl on December 30 when the Tar Heels face Stanford because of an undisclosed injury, but has announced that he will return to school for his senior season next fall. Ironically, Stanford will also be without its star junior RB in the Sun Bowl as Christian McCaffrey announced earlier in the week that he wouldn’t play in the game, instead choosing to focus on preparing for the NFL draft. UNC’s Hood had been considered to be a possible top 100 prospect for the upcoming draft after he ran for almost 1,500 yards and 17 TDs in 2015, but his production was cut nearly in half this past season when he rushed for just 864 yards and eight touchdowns as he battled nagging injuries pretty much all season.
