Two RBs, WR opting out

October 20, 2020
Two top RBs, WR opting out … Another trio of intriguing prospects for the 2021 draft will not be playing this fall. There are reports, for example, that Penn State junior RB Journey Brown, one of the top emerging prospects at the position for the upcoming draft, could miss the upcoming season with an undisclosed medical condition. Brown had indicated prior to the season that he likely would be entering the 2021 draft, but its not clear whether he in fact intends to stick with that plan or whether he will return to school. Meanwhile, star junior Kansas RB Pooka Williams has announced that he will be opting out the remainder of the season because of a health issue with his mother. As with PSU’s Brown, it is unclear at this time if Williams plans to enter the upcoming draft or return to school, either at Kansas or as a transfer somewhere else next season. The tweet does somewhat sound like he doesn’t plan on coming back to Kansas, but since he didn’t actually say that, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what he ends up doing. On the other hand, there isn’t much mystery about Memphis WR Damonte Coxie who indicated yesterday that he is opting out and will enter the upcoming draft. The 6-2, 200-pound Coxie had over 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past two seasons, including 2019 when he had 76 receptions for 1,250 yards and 9 TDs.
