Two more enter draft; half dozen stay home … Two more promising juniors entered the 2019 draft earlier today including Iowa SS Amani Hooker and Washington State RB James ‘Boobie’ Williams. The 5-11, 210-pound Hooker was a first team all conference player this fall when he was also named the Big Ten’s DB of the year; a hybrid safety/LB, Hooker had 65 total tackles this fall along with 3 picks and figures to be one of the top 4-5 safeties in the 2019 draft. Meanwhile, Williams, who was essentially homeless much of his early life, is a 5-11, 205-pound 3rd pound specialist who has over 200 career receptions including 83 this fall when he also ran for 560 yards as a situational back. He should get some early 3rd day interest. On the other, a bunch of players indicated today that they will be returning to school for the senior year including four from Florida: RB Lamical Perine, DE Jabari Zuniga, DT Adam Shuler and WR Van Jefferson. Others returning to school include Notre Dame DE Julian Okwara, Penn State OG Steven Gonzales and Georgia PK Rodrigo Blankenship. The addition of Hooker and Washington brings the number of underclassmen who have indicated in one way or another that they will be entering the 2019 draft to 103. Underclassmen have until the end of business on January 14th to file paperwork with the NFL in order to be eligible for the upcoming draft.
