Two more juniors enter draft; other college notes … As expected, rising Washington State junior DE Hercules Mata’afa has announced that he will be entering the draft. Mata’afa is something of a tweener at 6-2, 255, but had 10.5 sacks in a breakout campaign this fall; he is a second day candidate who could get looks as both a 4-3 DE and 3-4 OLB. At the same time, Kansas State junior CB/KR D.J. Reed, an All-Big 12 cornerback and return specialist, announced that he will not return for his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. The 5-9, 190-pound Reed had 47 tackles this past season along with 4 interceptions 9 pass break-ups. He also averaged 34 yards on KO returns and 15 yards per bringing back punts with two return TDs. Like Mata’afa, he is considered to be a second-day prospect. Elsewhere, Auburn junior CB Carlton Davis, a potential first round pick in 2018 if he enters the upcoming draft, won’t play in today’s Peach Bowl against Central Florida, because of a non-football related illness. Meanwhile, Texas A&M safety Donovan Wilson, who was injured in the season opening loss to UCLA and subsequently missed the entire season, has announced that he will return for a medical redshirt 5th year senior season.
