Trades update … The new NFL season isn’t even an hour old yet and already the league has been rocked by three major deals. Philadelphia and St. Louis, for example, have agreed to swap veteran QBs Nick Foles and Sam Bradford. There are also reportedly picks changing hands between the two teams with the Eagles getting the Rams 2nd round selection this year, the 41st pick overall, although there are conflicting reports whether other picks may be involved. One report suggests for example, that the teams actually have swapped 2nd rounders with the Rams getting the 52nd pick from the Eagles; the Rams, though, could also be just getting a conditional pick in 2016. Indeed, it would hardly seem to get the Eagles closer to landing Oregon QB Marcus Mariota, who has long been believed to be Philadelphia GM/coach Chip Kelly’s ultimate target, if all they really added in the deal was a selection 10 picks earlier in the second round. Meanwhile, Seattle has reportedly acquired Pro Bowl TE Jimmy Graham from New Orleans for C Max Unger and the 31st pick in this year’s draft, while, the Seahawks will get the Saints 4th rounder. And Detroit filled the hole in its defensive front created when DT Ndamukong Suh signed with Miami, by acquiring DT Haloti Ngata from Baltimore for the Lions 4th and 5th round picks this year, while the Ravens also gets Detroit’s 7th round pick. The Ravens were willing to move Ngata after he refused to take a pay cut. Stay tuned for more details.
