Trade options for Browns in search of Trubisky

April 21, 2017

Browns’ trade options in search of Trubisky … We mentioned in our report earlier in the week that if Cleveland does indeed intend to try and trade back up into next week’s top ten from the 12th pick in order to try and acquire North Carolina QB Mitch Trubisky they may not have to look far to find a dance partner. In fact, just about every team picking 2nd thru the 7th pick in the opening round are on record as saying they are looking to trade down. Tim Bielik of the Cleveland Plain Dealer has examined the likelihood of the Browns moving up to each of those spots. So far, though, there hasn’t been a lot of buzz indicating anything is imminent on that trade front, although there was an unconfirmed report earlier in the week that the Browns were talking with the Jets about flipping the 6th and 12th picks. That would be an interesting situation because the Jets also have major QB issues, but if they are indeed thinking of moving down with the top-rated prospect at the position still on the board it may be an indication that they are planning on giving young QBs Christian Hackenberg and Brice Petty another year to develop before committing a #1 pick to the position. In fact, looking at the board, the most logical trading partner for the Browns would be Tennessee at #5. Meanwhile, the other QB-trade situation to watch is Houston. Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien is believed to really like Patrick Mahomes, the Texas Tech gunslinger, and if he should make it out of the top 10 would Houston consider pulling the trigger. Stay tuned.
