Top three picks for week set … We had to wait for some of the results of the late afternoon games to come in, but at least for this week Houston will hold onto the #1 pick in the ‘if the draft were held this week’ selection order for the opening round of the 2023 draft, with Las Vegas and Carolina slotted in to the 2nd and 3rd spots and Jacksonville and Chicago rounding out the top 5. And for the moment, Denver, the LA Rams and Cleveland will have the 6-7-8 picks in some order depending on how the results of this weekend’s final couple of games impact their respective strength of schedule numbers. That’s an interesting trio as all three of their first-round picks have already been traded elsewhere: Seattle has Denver’s, Detroit has the Rams and Houston has Cleveland’s. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh and Detroit will round out the top 10. In fact, hands up everyone who figured that the pick the Lions received from the Rams would be higher than their own at the mid-point of the season. As usual, the full current opening round selection will be posted at the conclusion of tomorrow’s Monday night game between Philadelphia and Washington.
