Top pick secure; rest of top 5 in play today

November 13, 2016

#1 pick secure; rest of top 5 in play today … Cleveland locked up the first overall pick in the proverbial ‘if the draft were held today’ selection order for the first round of the 2017 draft when the winless Browns lost in Baltimore on Thursday night. However, there could be some shuffling of the rest of the early selection order as three of the other 4 teams picking in the top 5 players are playing teams with sub-.500 records later today. San Francisco, which would have the second pick overall were the draft held this week, for example will be at Arizona (3-4-1) in a 4 PM ET game today, while #3 Chicago will be at 3-5 Tampa Bay and the Jets, who would pick 5th this week, host the LA Rams (3-5). Both of those games are in the early 1 PM ET slot. Meanwhile, Jacksonville, which currently sits on the 4th pick, is in a little tougher as the Jags host division leading Houston. The full weekly selection order for the first round of the 2017 draft will be posted after Monday night’s game between Cincinnati and the Giants.
