Top MAC WR prospect out for year … Miami of Ohio has confirmed that star WR James Gardner is not likely to be back the rest of the year after he suffered an undisclosed injury in last week’s loss to Minnesota. As a result, Gardner is expected to undergo surgery and while a late-season return isn’t out of the question it is reportedly highly unlikely. That’s a blow for the 6-3, 220-pound Gardner who seriously considered leaving school last winter and entering the 2018 draft after averaging 19.7 yards per recepton on 47 total catches last fall. Gardner will likely face a difficult decision this winter whether to return to school for another season as he still hasn’t used a redshirt year or enter the upcoming draft coming off an injury.
