Top 4 QBs, DT Carter among 17 going to KC … The NFL announced earlier today that 17 players have accepted invitations to attend this year’s draft which gets underway two weeks today in Kansas City. No surprise that the top 4 QBs in this year’s draft class – Alabama’s Bryce Young, CJ Stroud of Ohio State, Kentucky’s Will Levis and Anthony Richardson of Florida – will all be at the draft. It is a bit of a surprise, though, that the league invited embattled Georgia DT Jalen Carter. Carter of course is a legit top ten prospect, but he recently plead no contest to charges of reckless driving and racing stemming from an accident in January in which two people were killed, although Carter was not directly involved in the crash. And since teams are consulted about who should be invited to the actual draft, it is another hint that Carter is likely to be selected relatively early. Meanwhile, the the other players invited to Kansas City include Texas RB Bijan Robinson, WRs Jaxon Smith-Njigba of Ohio State, Zay Flowers of Boston College and Southern Cal’s Jordan Addison; OT Paris Johnson of Ohio State; DEs Will anderson of Alabama, Tyree Wilson of Texas Tech and Georgia Tech’s Keion White, CBs Christian Gonzalez of Oregon, Illinois’ Devon Witherspoon and Joey Porter of Penn State; and Alabama safety Brian Branch.
