That’s a wrap as OL finish off combine 40s … The final group of offensive linemen are now going thru their positional drills having completed their 40s. And while the group may lack prototype length, it looks to be a very athletic group with 20 of the 30 OTs, OGs or Cs who did run today clocked in under 5.20 seconds. And while the focus was on the tackles, it was a C – Jared Wilson of Georgia – who stole the show when, as the last guy down the track, he posted a very quick 4.84 40 clocking with an equally quick 1.71 split time. In fact, it was a very quick group of Cs as 4 of the 5 who ran clocked under 5.12 seconds with Eli Cox of Kentucky posting a time of 5.02, while Boston College’s Drew Kendall logged a 5.05 and Clay Webb of Jacksonville State a 5.12.
And speaking of those OTs, both Will Campbell and Armand Membou also ran under 5 seconds with Campbell coming in at 4.98 and Membou even quicker at 4.91. Kelvin Banks also got under what’s considered the minimum for a LT of 5.20, but just as he clocked in at 5.16 with a sluggish 1.84 split. Meanwhile, other OTs to impress included Arizona’s Jonah Savaiinaea, who also got under 5 flat at 4.95, along with Minnesota’s Aireontae Ersery and Josh Conerly of Oregon who posted times of 5.01 and 5.06 seconds respectively. In fact, the only really disappointing time of the day for the OL guys was Tyler Booker of Alabama, a potential first rounder who posted a pedestrian 5.39 40 clocking with literally a sun-dial timed split of 1.97 which was pretty much a full 2/10s slower than any other offensive lineman running today. Didn’t look like he was injured as he completed the positional with the rest of his group, but this something to watch at the Bama pro day later this month. For the record, Tate Ratledge, another former Georgian was the quickest OG with a 4.97 clocking which was nice for him as he missed pretty much the whole season with an injury.
