Texas Southern BB player enters draft … Texas Southern redshirt sophomore basketball star Derrick Griffin has announced he is leaving the basketball team with the intention of entering the 2017 draft. Griffin was also a 6-7, 240-pound wide receiver for TSU but was kicked off the team after two games this fall for breaking team rules after he caught a team-high 36 passes for over 700 yards and 11 TDs as a freshman in 2015. And Griffin is more than just a basketball player switching to football as he was actually one of the top 5 WRs in the country coming out of high school. He originally committed to Texas A&M and signed a national letter of intent at Miami, but didn’t qualify academically at either school before he enrolled at Texas Southern. Obviously, there are some off-field issues here, but Griffin has a chance to blow up the combine and move well up boards around the league.
