Texans trade DE Lawson to Jets for #6 … There has been something of a buzz around the league this weekend that talks involving embattled Houston QB Deshaun Watson have been heating up again. Well, the Texans did make a trade today, but not for Watson. They sent veteran DE Shaq Lawson to the NY Jets for the 6th round pick in 2022 that the Texans had acquired earlier this year from San Francisco. With the Jets, Lawson will replace DE Carl Lawson, his namesake who was lost for the year with a ruptured Achilles’ tendon last week. Speaking of Watson, there were reports earlier this weekend that Miami had emerged as the favorite to land Watson. However, that chatter has died down somewhat in the last few hours as Miami reportedly balked at the Texans’ asking price of three future first round picks and two seconds. And that doesn’t even begin to address the challenges of bringing in Watson and all his legal baggage without some kind of guarantees. Still, where there’s chatter, sometimes there’s fire! Stay tuned.
