Texans lose/win ‘battle for #2; Jags stun Bills … Both teams tried to fumble it away, but when the smoke cleared in today’s game between Houston and Miami with the 2nd pick overall in the current selection order for the 2022 draft on the line, the Dolphins came away with a 17-9 win. That dropped the Texans to 1-8 and sitting all alone on the 2nd pick overall in this week’s selection order. Jacksonville would actually have also been in the mix for that second pick once they played their game in hand, but the Jags made it academic by stunning Buffalo 9-6 for their second win. Obviously, there are still games to be played this weekend, but we can say based on the early games that if the draft were to be held this week that still winless Detroit, which had their bye this week, would have the first pick once again, Houston would be at #2, followed by Philadelphia with Miami’s pick, the NY Jets at #4 and Jacksonville at #5, Washington at #6 and the NY Giants, who also got a big upset win this afternoon over Las Vegas, at #7. As usual, the full opening round selection order, at least for this week, will be updated after tomorrow night’s Monday night game.
