Tag day in NFL … NFL teams actually have until tomorrow to designate franchise and/or transition players prior to the start of free agency next, however, several got the jump on proceedings today with 5 teams naming franchise players. Dallas, for example, franchised All-Pro DE Demarcus Lawrence, while Houston tagged DE Jadeveon Clowney, Seattle franchised DE Frank Clark, Kansas City tagged DE/ER Dee Ford and Atlanta tagged DT Grady Jarrett. What jumps out of course is all 5 are defensive linemen, with 4 DEs or edge rushers. And that likely will only add to the value of this year’s defensive line rich draft as it is going to be that much tougher for teams looking to upgrade their pass rushes with a veteran free agent.
