Home cooking to impact top of selection order … Interesting that for the first time in quite some time there are no games this weekend between teams with early picks in the current first-round selection order for the 2024 draft. In fact, the closest thing this week was on Thursday night when #6 Las Vegas hosted the LA Chargers who were sitting on the 9th pick. Of course, the Raiders blew out the Chargers on Thursday and the teams essentially flipped those picks at least for the rest of the weekend. Meanwhile, this Sunday, Carolina, which is closing in on clinching the top pick overall for Chicago who acquired the Panthers #1 pick this year in a 2023 draft trade, will be hosting #11 Atlanta in what has to be considered sort of a winnable game for the Panthers. New England and Arizona, who currently hold the 2nd and 3rd picks respectively, are also home on Sunday, but both are also in much tougher than the Panthers as the Patriots are hosting Kansas City, while Arizona faces San Francisco. Elsewhere, #4 Washington plays in LA against the #14 Rams; #5 Chicago with its own pick, will be in Cleveland, the #7 Jets are in Miami and the #8 Giants are in New Orleans to play the #12 Saints.
