Stumpy arms hi(low) lite OL weigh-in

March 2, 2025

Stumpy arms hi (or low)-lite OL weigh-in … The offensive linemen are set to wrap up the on-field workout sessions at the scouting combine in Indianapolis starting in just a few minutes on the NFL Network. In many ways, though, with the OL group, what scouts see during the morning weigh-in session can be more important than what they see on the field. And its hard not to imagine that there may be more questions asked than answered at this morning’s measurement session as there just weren’t a lot of long-armed prospects. Indeed, it wasn’t so much that there weren’t many guys with 35″ arms, which is generally considered to be the gold standard; there weren’t very many that even came in at even 34 inches. Scouts were particularly interested in seeing the arm length of Will Campbell, who is generally considered to be the top LT prospect this, but had concerns about his actual length. Campbell certainly fits the profile size-wise as he’s 6-6, 320, but has arms under 33″. It was the same story for Kelvin Banks, the other OL with top-10 potential; Banks was a little taller than expected at over 6-5 and he’s got huge 10″ plus hands, but just 33.5′ arms. That may have a lot of teams thinking of both guys more as OGs than OTs which could very well ding their respective grades. And it seemed to be the same story almost right across the board as none of Josh Simmons, Airetonae Ersery. Josh Conerly, Wyatt Milum, Caleb Rogers, Marcus Mbow, Grey Zabel or Armand Membou measured in with more than 33.5″ arms. In fact, the only even remotely highly rated OT prospect that passed the eyeball test was Jalen Rivers who came in at 6-5.5, 320 with those 35″ arms, while Hollin Pierce of Rutgers was 6-8, 341 with 36″ arms. For the record, here are the full measurements from this morning’s OL weigh-in again courtesy of the Steelers Depot.
